Roma
HALLO..OKTOBERFEST FTW
ok back to itinerary for rome
29/12 - arrival in roma airport
- shuttle ticket to town (return is 10-12 euros)
- Check in at hostel
HOSTEL OPTIONS - all have breakfast incl. and hot water and near city / public transport
1. MJ Place hotel 10 bed dorm (i.e. sharing with randoms)
29th - 15 eur 30th/31st/1st - 30 eur therefore total cost per pax = 105 Eur
2. Alessandro Palace Hostel(8 bed dorm)
29th/30th - 17 Eur 31st - 33 eur..therefore total cost per pax = 100 Eur
I choose option 2 due to higher reviews.
- Purchase 3 day pass to view colosseum & Castello Sant Angelo and unlimited subway / metro / tram transportation (23 eur)
- Proceed to Centro Storico (Historical Central) - colosseum and palatine hill and castle and all the stuff sen has mentioned in his thing..
- Dinner at one of the reccommended shops in my guidebook, perhaps some traditional roman food expect 15 - 20 euros per pax. I suggest we locate nearest supermarket and stock up on bread / jam/ some food to cook at the hostel. we can splurge abit to try traditional roman dining but maybe 1 or 2 meals.
Snacks should be self brought or u can buy pizza at say 3.50 eur (7 sgd for 1/8 slice..ex max)
- there are many bars out there to try on the first nite ..or we can just rest early for a big day the next day
30th - Vatican City / Sistine chapel blah blah (1/2 day)
- Trip out of roman walls to see the 7 hills (1/2 day)..heard the views are amazing..
- return to rome to see other museums and stuff we have yet to cover in the first day - roman forum etc etc...
- there are no matches during this period of as roma and its derby rival s.s. lazio...so too bad.. no soccer matches to watch.
- nite activity is free and easy..will do more research on any nite views (the pantheon is good for the nite view)..but most likely its head to a club or cafe again..cos its gonna be damn cold..pub crawl anyone?
31st - I really think Rome has alot more than i have mentioned to offer and we should really spend some time in the city visiting the other museums, chapels and stuff its really breathtaking. (1/2 day)
- however if we are really fast on the first 2 days, keeping in mind we are moving in a bloody big group so our progress would naturally be slower..we can take a day trip to a nice city out of rome called sperlonga or Tivoli..both are very scenic and should take 1/2 day. Ticket prices to and fro add up to 7 euros. not including any charges at the door of certain spots within the towns.
- Nite activity (free and easy)
1st - plese note that there will be no unlimited travel on subway for this day if we start travelling max on the first day..so we have to weigh..how much u wanna see..cos if we wanna enjoy 3 full days of the pass den when we arriveo n the 29th we should just walk around the whole day..and then travel around in the next 3..
Today will be a buffer cos i reallly think i'm packing too much in. I can organize a trip to the factory outlet where there are more than a 100 branded shops to choose from (think souvenier time) and we can claim tax refund cos we leaving europe in less than 3 mths. or we can do that in paris..but i tink rome cheaper...dun expect big discount cos winter collection just started than...
2nd - leave rome
Total budget for 4 days will be rather ex...about 200 euros excluding shopping..
let me know what ur views are..
