let's get moving!
ok guys.. euro trip is great and all.. but if we dun get started and moving.. all it's ever going to be is a dream and fantasy and when we meet up after christmas, we're just gonna sit around like old men, lao bao and scold each other abt wasting each other's time and money.. contrary to popular belief, u can't plan a holiday the day before u fly off.. so NOW is the time to get started.. chieh, myself and chong have come up with a tentative plan which has quite a bit more details than previous talked about.. details below.. but there is alot to find out and plan.. so i'd appreciate it if i cld delegate some tasks to you guys.. everyone do a little bit.. post the information, so we can quickly settle tough issues like train, hotel, things to see/do in each place.. so here goes!
Firstly, who is coming. Right now we have:

Before 27/12
Form up at Chieh's place in London. Come to the city OTOT and just chill at his place
27/12
Train from London to Paris (4 hrs?) to get into Paris around midday.
IMPT: Chieh has found cheap tickets, about 10 left, at 23 euro per pax. Please confirm who is going to be on this train ASAP. Contact him directly so that he can book the tix and lock in that price.
27/12 to 29/12
Time in Paris. Someone will be in charge of planning our time there, or at least coming up with ideas on what to do. Delegation will be later
29/12
Night train from Paris to either Aix-en-Provence or Marseille
30/12-01/01
Arrival in Aix or Mar morning of 30/12. Car rental in the morning and use that to get around the city. Drive car out of the city to other towns. Spend the night of the 30th and 31st in towns between Marseille and Nice, such as Toulon and Frejus (google maps Marseille, FR to get an idea of the distance and the possible locations between Mar-Nice). Between 30/12 and 01/01, the main idea is to drive around, check out the countryside and eventually end up in Nice to hop on a train to Rome.

02/01-04/01
Arrival in Rome in the morning of 02/01. Tour the city and Vatican until 04/01 afternoon, when most people have to leave to return to London to catch flights back to SG on 05/01.
Ok so that is the plan. If you see any problems, either blog IMMEDIATELY (a short 2-3 lines is all it takes) or email me directly.. I will try my best to coordinate the planning and make sure everyone is informed of any changes/developments. But i can't do it all alone.. so below.. i've delegated some small things to pple to do in true SAF style.. it's all pretty easy and done online so dun fret

Nigel: Blog on changes and developments, coordinate the times and dates. Will handle car rental for Provence and plan a more detailed itinerary on the towns we wanna visit.
Chieh: Handle train from London to Paris
Andy: Trains from Paris to Provence and Nice to Rome. Please advise on prices and the feasibility of getting a rail pass and whether that makes financial sense.
Joo: Things to do in Paris. Please come up with some ideas on what we could see/do in the city
Josh: Things to do in Rome. Please come up with some ideas on what we could see/do in the city.
Jing: Accom in Paris/Provence. List 3-4 accom options which fit our time table advising on prices and such. Once I've firmed up an itinerary for Provence, I will email you with dates and places and then please look into accom for those 2 nights as well.
Sen: Accom in Rome and flight from Rome to London. List 3-4 accom options which fit our time table advising on prices and such. Look for options for flying from Rome to London for the guys who are returning to catch the intl flight on 05/01.
EVERYONE: Please blog IMMEDIATELY on when you plan to join and leave the party. For example, for myself i am arriving in Frankfurt at 7am on 27/12 morning. Looking for train from FRK to Paris and likely to arrive in Paris in the early afternoon and will link up then. Leaving the party at Rome likely on 05/01 to go back to Frankfurt for a flight on the morning of 06/01 from FRK back to NYC. Without this kind of information, the train and accom planners CANNOT proceed. Please let us know ASAP as to when u are joining and leaving the group.
Please start work on this now. Especially for the pple doing train, flight and accom issues. The longer we wait, the more we pay.
Try and post an update on what you have found within 3-5 days, that is by the end of the month.
