Ole!

I just came back from Mexico a couple of days ago and it was wonderful! Only thing is I now have a shitload of work because I did nothing the entire break and have a midterm on Tues. But anyway, that's not the important thing.

The important things in Mexico were:
I cried.
It was at the end of the meal and I 'd been snacking on this salad thingy of carrots, chilli peppers and garlic. So I ate a few jalepenos which tasted kinda like green chillis at TZE CHAR restaurants back home and so I saw the small bugger lying there and I thought "hmm... haven't tried this one yet" so I popped the whole thing in my mouth and started chewing. And chewing. No effect, so I swallowed. And then the pain came. I can take spicy stuff. Chilli padis are numbing but nothing compared to this. My whole mouth was on fire and the only thing that was in my mind at the time was the pain, the burning pain. All my efforts at drinking water and fanning my tongue with my hand were futile. I started tearing and a drop actually rolled down my cheek. I don't know how long the pain lasted but it was hell. The only comparable experience was eating a chilli padi for the first time as a child. Anyway, the waiter saw my suffering and laughed . Hurhur. And then another one came over and popped a habanero into his mouth. But then he went off into the corner and spat it out without even chewing. Even the Mexicans couldn't take the heat. Imagine eating one chilli padi but triple or 5x (quindruple?) the heat. My stomach burnt for the next hour and then I had diarrhoea the next day. Lesson learnt: don't fucking eat a whole habanero. Of course, the next day, I went back to the restaurant with my friend who hadn't gone the day before because he was sick and dared him to try it after duly warning him. The effect of the pepper was a lot funnier from the outside. We fished:
And we caught a barracuda which we had for lunch. Actually most of the work was done by the capitano and we only got to reel it in. The barracuda was huge. Certainly much bigger than the late Nua Monster (remember him? From Bali).
And at night, we played bridge.

Which makes me think of our Bali trip. When will I see the balls together again? I miss you guys * sob sob
