Ambitions

Yesterday while dootz dootzing, I remember I was going OOO-OOO, OOO-OOO-OOO! (in most Hokkien Beng way) aloud, it was an amazing feeling hah.

The point of this made me recall how I wanted so much to be an ah beng back when I was younger. I think that bit of ambition, no matter how transient, sort of left its effect today. Which made me lament as to why I never did have a proper ambition when I was younger, I think to actually live a childhood dream, it would be such a wonderful feeling.

And as I grow older past the teenage years, I find myself with 3 new ambitions, that have been with me for several years now. 1) To be a fisherman on a sampan floating aimlessly on a river somewhere in Southeast Asia, living a life of self-sustenance. 2) To be a policeman or just someone to chase after a snatch-thief and tackle him to the ground. 3) To save the school when a gun-touting psycho rampages in the school. I think basically, it's something to do with dying heroically. I can really imagine myself doing someting like that.

Maybe I'll fulfill those eventually, but now, too many ideas keep popping my head for summer projects. Oh summer, won't you come soon. I don't want my sun to go down at 3:30pm anymore.


I remember again, in one Chinese lesson when we were primary 5. Our teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember my friend stood up and said straight away:

"Ah Gua."

I don't know whether he meant it or not, but it was hilarious. And when I think about the whole moment even now today, I still think it must have been hilarious. Such is the innocence of childhood. I wonder how that friend is doing now though..
