Living in America
Hey Sen, I resent that, that bit about how we supposedly haven't embraced life overseas. I'm perfectly happy where I am, I enjoy my classes (and dropped the one I didn't), I see my friends, I've been taking photos for the yearbook, I'm going to start tutoring students today for a little pocket money. I'm sure Jing is contented and Nigel would be too if he wasn't saddled with so much work. This semester is a lot better than fall semester last year when settling in was no fun. Also, if I eventually get down to it, I'll start playing cricket. I really wouldn't want to change a nything right now. Life overseas meant for me first and foremost a better education system and secondly a chance to experience a different culture. I love (and I don't use the word lightly) Brown's academic system and I've even managed to connect with my non-Singaporean friends. And honestly, college should be about doing and achieving what you want, not about living up to anybody's expectations (not your parents' and not Sen's). So Chieh, I take my hat off you (in the words of Mr Tan Liang Soon), not for embracing the overseas living experience because there really isn't one unique one but for exploring what you want.
Let us balls take these years of our lives to seek what we want, whatever that may be =) Be they Chinese girls with racist parents, global meiz, 1.7m tall females or just a good education and a life you're contented with.
