MOOP
I am still the same, here, there and everywhere. I don't feel the need to chesterize just to talk to the the Americans even though I do adjust my accent. The thing I felt most strongly when I first got here was that if you wanted to hang out with the Americans, you had to act like them. I didn't want to Americanize so that was kinda awkward but people get used to it. If they don't, then oh well, you can't be friends with everyone. I wouldn't expect an American in Singapore to act like a Singaporean even if he'd probably pick up a few phrases of Singlish.
I'm quite happy to be back in school to be honest. My trip to the UK has done me good because while it was kinda awkward being around Chieh's britmates, it made me realize that after a semester here, I definitely had a better relationship with my dormmates than with Chieh's britmates. It just takes time to adjust.
The only thing I feel needs rectifying is the fact that I seem to feel more comfortable with anyone but freshmen. Maybe it helps that they are older and more settled down but I forsee a problem when they all graduate and everyone's younger than me. And I don't have ball brothers. I just went to get a milkshake and ended up sitting with 3 sophomore female friends. Where are the guys man?
