Borat
Sometimes I really feel like Borat, on a trip for Culture Learnings of UK For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Singapore. You keep being fascinated with the differences in culture each time you interact with other people.
To put things into comparision, last night one SMS scholar finally commissioned via the Internet, and so he treated us to a restaurant called Kiasu which was decent, had or luat, bak chor mee and things which tasted decent. (Yes, $15SGD ++ but I digress) So after that the group of Singaporeans went to strip him, lamppost him and all that, which I really didn't find amusing anymore, not that I ever did, and after that we just went to play monopoly and I got back at my halls at 12.
Now back at halls I went into my room, ready to nua and brushing teeth at 1am. Knock knock. Oh fuck, ang mohs playing around in the corridors, talking cock, dragged me out. So just spent the whole time talking along the corridors, and ended up having a water fight (which I didn't want to get wet in before sleeping) which concluded with someone getting gashed on his arm by a broken glass and being whisked off to A&E for a few stitches haha. While waiting for the injured boy, we went into one of the girl's room where they just went on with girly talk, gossiping about sex and vibrators right in front of us. Wow, I swear you don't ever get that happening at home.
I just wonder why we Singaporeans are just generally more boring. I think it stems from the fact that we aren't great communicators, and that's exactly the main reason why I decided to come overseas. To learn how to communicate properly with people, be it from friendly banter to aimless chat. To be able to start a conversation, and learn how to hold it and engage people. I really hope I'll be able to show some improvement in that aspect within the course of study here.
3 late nights in a row, 4am sleeping times each day, and I've got a formative assessment again next Friday, the last day of school, and my family's coming up then. Things aren't looking promising Dean's List bro.
I leave you guys with 2 random thoughts. I love having random thoughts that keep me entertained. From Russel Peter's latest show (which absolutely sucked ass): "Asians will find out where asians are from and then tell you to go away if you aren't from the same place; A white bloke will see another random white bloke and then say hey let's go for a drink." That was so true it had more meaning behind the humour. Another one was my someone randomly saying, "We tend to be a lot more cruel to schoolmates back in school besides your close friends." And yes, that was very true and I wonder why we did that then. I'm glad that as we grow up, we tend to be less judgemental. Oh well, I think it's all about growing up which I am enjoying, despite missing being the mad hatter at times.
Back to studying, and chong I really don't know about your accommodation arrangements while I'm with my family. Let me know?
